Rain Jacobson is a visual artist and storyteller, curator, educator, and social worker. Born in the suburbs of New Jersey, Rain has resided in cities (Los Angeles, New York City, and Philadelphia) for the last decade. She is currently a qualitative research associate at the Center for Guaranteed Income Research, an instructor at the University of Pennsylvania, and a graduate lecturer at the ICA. Rain has held positions at museums, institutions, community centers, and startups. She is also a trained birth doula.

Rain has been teaching photography and facilitating groups since 2016. Her teaching philosophy draws from Friere’s dialogic model of learning that resists the traditional “banking” model of education. Rain believes in the power of photography and image-making as a tool for liberation, expression, healing, and communication.

She will graduate from the University of Pennsylvania in May 2024 with a dual MSW/MFA and a Certificate in Experimental Ethnography. Rain holds a BFA in Photography & Imaging from New York University.
